Muirhouse Medical Group is a partnership of doctors working within the NHS. We have modern purpose-built premises with wheelchair access, a bike and pram store and a neighbouring car park. The practice also has an inductive loop system for patients with hearing difficulties.
We provide general healthcare including travel immunisation, minor surgery, contraception, maternity and child health care. The practice has a large team including nurses, practice manager, receptionists, secretaries and administrators. We work closely with district nurses, midwives, health visitors, community psychiatric nurses, dieticians and other healthcare workers.
We are involved in training future general practitioners, junior doctors and student doctors. Because of this we sometimes ask patients to allow medical staff in training to sit in during consultations and for permission to video consultations.
The practice has won Royal College of General Practitioners (Scotland) Practice Accreditation and NHS Education for Scotland Training Practice Accreditation.
This year has seen a change at the practice. Dr Wilfrid Treasure has left after twenty years as a partner to take up a post on Whalsay in Shetland. From Monday 31st October patients who used to see Dr Treasure should ask to see one of the other partners, or our new GP partner Dr Clare Briggs.
Dr Dione Davidson will also be leaving the practice this year - her last working day will be the 29th December. Dr Hannah Beresford will be taking over from Dr Davidson. We also have Dr Steven McClure returning to the practice from 9th January 2012.
